Double Sided Smoky Quartz and Amazonite spinner pendant

     Check out this hand fabricated double sided pendant that spins freely to exhibit the stones on each side. On one side is a bright blue colored Amazonite from Jefferson County, CO. On the other side is a root beer colored Smoky Quartz also from Jefferson County, CO! The Amazonite is a type of feldspar, so like many others it exhibits a beautiful flash or “schiller” effect when it reflects the light off of its parallel cleavage planes. It also takes and holds a very good polish and is a very suitable stone for jewelry. The Smoky Quartz also takes a very good polish and is very gemmy with no visible fractures or inclusions, just the fine root beer color that Colorado Smoky Quartz is known for.

     These two minerals are found together naturally in the same pegmatite crystal pockets. Colorado is famous around the world for producing the finest Smoky Quartz and Amazonite specimens found anywhere. The contrasting colors of the two minerals also look very great in jewelry in my opinion. These specimens come out of the ground together, so why not honor that by making beautiful jewelry combining the two? Just as nature intended. As always this piece of jewelry was fabricated 100% from scratch here in our Studio in Conifer, CO and the stones were polished in our lapidary studio! It is a rugged piece of jewelry built to last a lifetime, just like every piece we make.
