Description
Jewelry made with all Colorado materials! This has been a long time dream of mine and I am very excited to present my first few pieces!!
The gemstones I use in this line of jewelry are all “ethically” sourced here in Colorado! Many are from my own mining claims including Amazonite, Smoky Quartz, and Topaz. All polished stones are cut and polished in house or by other artists here in Colorado. The jewelry is all hand fabricated in the Butterfield Gems and Minerals studio in Conifer, CO. This project is exciting and very important to me because I know and can guarantee the source of every element of my jewelry, and it offers the opportunity for me to support local miners and artisans! Keep it local!
The precious metals used in this project are sourced from placer mining operations right here in Colorado. The mines they come from are in Alma and Denver. My friend David with Prospectors Gold & Gems sources this placer gold that is a natural alloy of gold and silver (up to 17% silver) and he is able to separate this alloy at his refinery. The metal is then turned into new alloys with other Colorado metals if necessary, and then it is rolled into raw sheet or wire that I can use for my jewelry!
This piece features a Smoky Quartz and Garnet set in .999 fine silver from Colorado! The Smoky Quartz is from Teller County, CO and was polished by my lapidary artist. The Garnet is a .6ct faceted stone and is from Chaffee County, CO! This piece was designed and fabricated by hand here in our studio.
18″ Sterling Silver box chain included.
